How Much Do AP Exams Cost?
The College Board offers nearly 40 Advanced Placement (AP) Exams that cover various subject areas. AP Exams are administered at the end of the school year, and cost:
United States, US Territories, Canada | $98 |
DoDEA Schools | $98 |
Outside of the U.S. & Canada | $128 |
Registering after the deadline will incur a $40 late-order fee. Taking the test after the typical test dates can also result in a $40 fee, though many reasons for late testing can waive this fee. These include serious illnesses, athletic contests, high school graduations, religious observances and more.
AP Exam Costs for the Capstone Program
If a student is participating in the AP Capstone program, the AP Seminar and AP Research exams cost $146 each. The fee does not increase for tests taken outside the US.
Fee Reductions
Students who meet financial assistance criteria may apply for a $36 reduction in fees per exam. These students do not have to pay late fees under any circ*mstances. Additional support may be available from federal and state resources.
AP Exam Schedule
The AP Exams are offered Monday-Friday during the first two weeks of May. Tests begin at:
- 8:00 a.m.
- 12:00 p.m.
- 2:00 p.m. (Only for the AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism exam, which is offered during week 2)
Late tests are scheduled over three days during the third week in May. Students will need to coordinate late testing with their school's AP administrator.
