Drug testing for private security varies among employers. Urine testing is the most common specimen collected for drug testing. Other specimens include hair follicles and breath tests for alcohol testing. Urine testing detects drug use in the past 72 hours.

Security Clearance Process information

All potential employees must: Obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance. Successfully complete a drug test to screen for illegal drug use. Complete a required counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.

Integrity Tests check a specimens integrity for dilution, substitution or contamination in an effort to combat test tampering. All multi-panel urine drug screens have three and up to six integrity tests included as standard.

Sunstates requires candidates to pass a detailed background check as well as a 10-panel drug screen to be considered for employment. To ensure we are maintaining the highest quality personnel, a percentage of employees are randomly drug-screened each month.
