The 2023 Psychology Major Application is closed.
The next application cycle will open mid-July 2024.
This application is for students who entered asfreshmen(not transfer students) and are pursuing the Psychology major. Admission into the major will be based on a student’s academic performance in the preparation for major courses. Students must have completed all of the preparatory coursework witha minimum of a 2.5 GPAto be eligible to apply.Note: Students who have at least a 2.9 prep GPA and meet all requirements will be guaranteed admission into the major. Students with a prep GPA of 2.5-2.89 will enter a competitive applicant pool.
Applications take up to 6 weeks to process after all final prep-for-major coursework grades are posted to your DARS.
If you arenotone of our pre-majors and you are interested in declaringPRE-PSYCHOLOGY, you must contact our office to petition to declare the pre-major. This application isONLYfor pre-majors looking to declareMAJORstanding.
If you have completed any Pre-Psychology preparatory courses at an institution other than UCLA (including a Community College, UCLA Extension, etc.) it is your responsibility to submit those transcripts to the UCLA Admission Office so that they may post to your record by the application deadline (it can take up to 2-3 months to post).
**Students who are pursuing a double major with Psychologymustsubmit an application regardless of the primary major listed on their record.
- You will only receive an email notification once your application has been processed. If you are entered in the competitive applicant pool, you will not find out the status of your application until mid-February.
- It isstrongly recommendedthat students in the competitive pool identify a backup major on which they are working in case they are not admitted into the Psychology major. Students should meet with their College counselor (College Academic Counseling, AAP, Honors, or Athletics) as well as Departmental counselors to determine their eligibility for backup majors.
