Microsoft OneDrive personal accountand aMicrosoft 365 work or school accountcannot be merged, but they can be used side by side.

Select from the options below for the best way to use personal and work orschool account together.

Adding a personal or work or school account to OneDrive

You can use OneDrive to sync both your work or school files and personal filesto your OneDrive for home account.

Your personal and work or school OneDrive storage remains separate. You can't sync or shareyour work or school folders to your OneDrive personal folders, but you can ​​copyor drag and drop files from one to another.

Follow these steps to add either a personal account or awork or school account.

  1. Open OneDrive settings (select the OneDrive cloud iconin your notification area, and then select the OneDrive Help and Settings icon thenSettings.)

  2. Go to theAccounttab.

If you want to use a new email address with your existing Outlook.com account, follow the instructions in this article to create an alias. This will give you an additional email address which uses the same inbox, contact list, and account settings as your primary email address. You can choose which email address to send mail from, and you can sign in to your Outlook.com account with any of your aliases—they all use the same password.

Tips:

  • You cannot add an alias that is already associated with another Microsoft account.

  • You can't add an email address that's already associated with a work or school account as an alias. See below for more details.

  • An alias or email address can only contain letters, numbers, dot (.), underscore (_) or dash/hyphen (-). Spaces and other special characters are not allowed.
