Home Page Update Mode
Controls the ability of end users to update the home page withcontent changes made by the administrator.
The following are changes that affect the user home page:
Changes in iView properties.
Assigning or unassigning roles to users.
Changes within roles, such as adding or removing iViewsor catalogs.
Changes in administrative groups.
For all options, changes that content administrators make to homepage content do not overwrite end user personalization.
Select one of the following:
Enable Automatic Updates
This option is the default.
Changes are automatically applied when end userslog on to the launchpad.
End users see changes in the home page withoutwarning, for example, tiles are added orremoved.
A Check for Options optiondoes not appear in theOptions menu in the homepage header bar
Caution Selecting Enable AutomaticUpdates can affect logon performance, sothis option is not recommended for productionmode.
Enable Manual Updates
End users can preview a list of changes to tilesbefore choosing to update the home page.
A Check for Updates optionappears in the Options menuin the home page header bar.
Notify Users About AvailableUpdates
If updates are available, the portal displays apop-up notification when end users log on.
End users can accept or defer changes to theirhome page content.
A Check for Updates optionappears in the Options menuin the home page header bar.
Tip
Notify Users About AvailableUpdates is the recommended option.There is minimal impact on performance.
This option gives the user more control over the homepage, while keeping it up-to-date with administratorchanges.
Note Selecting Notify Users AboutAvailable Updates causes the portalsystem to check for updates each time an end user logson to the launchpad. These checks can have a minorimpact on network load and performance.
Never Check for Updates
Choosing this option means that the end user does not getany changes that you as a content administrator make tohome page content.
