Vice President and Department of Education (DepED) Secretary Sara Duterte said that the implementation of full face-to-face classes in basic education for public schools will be fully implemented beginning next week.
Duterte, in an interview on the sidelines of the groundbreaking ceremony of the Samal-Davao bridge on Thursday, Oct. 27, said that policies related to the conduct of the face-to-face classes for the School Year (SY) 2022-2023 were issued already. “We already issued the department order last August for the school calendar for the school year 2022-2023 and then we issued the amendatory department order to supplement our initial department order with regard to the mandatory in-person classes beginning Nov. 2,” Duterte said.

The return to full face-to-face classes, Duterte said, will “push through” with public schools, and with private schools, they “can continue with the options of five days in-person classes, blended learning, and full online learning.”

As DepED allows private schools to continue with alternative learning delivery modalities, Duterte explained that “we leave it to the private schools and their stakeholders, their learners, guardians, parents to discuss their ways forward with regards to the education of their learners.”
However, Duterte stressed that DepEd's side, “we still remind everyone of the amount of studies available to emphasize the benefits of face to face classes for basic education.”
