In our house, we joke that we have the laziest tooth fairy because I never remember to swap out my children’s teeth for a quarter or anything else. (The girls all know the tooth fairy isn’t real and it’s become more funny to them that they DON’T get something, than if they did).

This beloved series doesn’t skip the Tooth Fairy! In this book, the Tooth Fairy sets out on her daily rounds but it’s not easy! Plenty of gap-toothed kids are anxious to catch her and she’ll have to be very clever to escape.
One Morning in Maine by Robert McCloskey
I love Robert McCloskey (he’s most famous for his Caldecott-winning Make Way for Ducklings) and this darling story with black-and-white illustrations follows Sal (yes, from Blueberries for Sal) on the day she wakes up to discover that one of her teeth is loose. When her tooth falls out without her noticing, she’s very worried that she won’t get to make a wish, but even without the tooth, her wish comes true!
Here Comes the Tooth Fairy Cat by Deborah Underwood, illustrated by Claudia Rueda
I always get such a kick out of the mischievous cat in this series. In this one, he wants to meet the Tooth Fairy and so comes up with some tricks to get her to return. But it turns out the Tooth Fairy is just as clever as he is!

Our dentist in Arizona had a copy of this in the waiting room and we read it every single time we went in – my girls loved this story of the Tooth Fairy who doesn’t wear high heels or a skirt. She has to be ready for action at all time, whether it’s a barking dog or a child trying to catch her.
